At each conference, RIAEYC honors outstanding early childhood professionals with three awards:
The Sue Connor Special Friends of Rhode Island’s Children – Early Childhood Advocate & Early Childhood Educator
These awards recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to early childhood education in Rhode Island. Sue Connor served Rhode Island AEYC for many years and spent more than 40 years advancing high-quality experiences for children, families, and educators. The awards were renamed in her honor in 2014.
The Carol Patnaude Promise Award
This award recognizes a young or emerging early childhood professional who shows passion, dedication, pursuit of higher education, advocacy, professional learning, and leadership potential. The award was renamed in 2025 to honor Carol’s board service and contributions to educator preparation.
Nominations may be submitted by Rhode Island early childhood professionals and are reviewed by the RIAEYC Early Childhood Conference Committee. This form may be completed once for each award, for no more than three nominations.
The RIAEYC Early Childhood Conference is a great opportunity to showcase your products or services, connect with a diverse audience, and expand your reach within the community. Space is limited, so apply early to secure your spot!
